Success is only one day of happiness – this is another moral lesson. The subject of “wanting to be successful” is something we often hear in many conversations. It is normal for many people to want to be successful in life, business, and family.

To reach that point, we all try every way to achieve our goals. But when we succeed, many people stop learning because they think that once they succeed, they don’t need to learn or develop themselves anymore.

This is the origin of the phrase “Success is only enjoyable for one day.” Because after the day of success, the next day may be the day of our failure immediately. Because we live in a world that is constantly changing. Today we are successful. We have an advantage. Tomorrow there may be someone better who can beat us. Therefore, learning and developing oneself constantly are indispensable for people in this era.

Mr. Dhanin Chearavanont is another example of a person who has achieved success in life.

We all see the results you have achieved but never have the chance to study your methods and ideas. So what are your ideas for achieving success?

The book “Success, Be Happy for Only One Day” by Mr. Dhanin Chearavanont, Senior Chairman of Charoen Pokphand Group, is considered a book that provides ideas, methods, and encouragement to readers or businessmen. The story of Mr. Dhanin Chearavanont and Charoen Pokphand Group. Before becoming this great, they had to overcome many difficult obstacles and failures as well.

Picture 1: Mr. Dhanin Chearavanont, Senior Chairman, Charoen Pokphand Group

Admin had the opportunity to read this book. The book conveys the work experience of Mr. Dhanin Chearavanont from the beginning, through the ups and downs, through various obstacles until reaching the present success. Reading this book does not only contain the concept of doing business alone, but also contains various concepts that the admin can analyze and apply to use in life. It has made the admin change his perspective on many things about doing business and living life in many matters as well.

    “Monopoly system”

When talking about CP (Charoen Pokphand Group), the admin believes that most people will think of the words monopoly, monopolization. This may be because people’s way of life still requires convenience in their lives. And for the convenience of themselves, sometimes they cannot avoid consuming products and services from CP. Since CP is a large business that can respond well to the needs of consumers, it may be seen that CP has a monopoly in terms of products and services in many categories.

“If we only look at their negative side, we will not learn anything from successful people.”

Admin would like everyone to open their minds to read this book because it contains many good ideas and perspectives that have been distilled from the experiences of Mr. Dhanin Chearavanont, which we can learn from and apply in the future.

The beginning of CP (Charoen Pokphand Group)

Dhanin’s father was the founder of Chia Tai, or Chia Tai Company at present. He was the one who developed the seeds himself. He held the business motto that “Doing business must be honest and ethical, do not take advantage of customers” and taught it to all of his children to be honest in doing business.

During his childhood, Dhanin lived with his mother and aunts for the most part because his father had to pioneer business overseas. In most Chinese families in the past, sons were closer to their mothers. In the context of Dhanin’s father having to do business overseas, Dhanin learned to be a giver from his mother. Dhanin’s mother liked to be a giver, “giving help, forgiving, and giving opportunities.”

The fact that Mr. Dhanin learned the concepts and teachings from his father and mother made him grow up with quality in terms of ideas, looking for opportunities, researching and learning all the time. It is like Mr. Dhanin is a seed that has been genetically modified from his father and mother to have good quality, resulting in strong and quality growth.

When Dhanin was a child, he had to go to boarding school, so he had to manage everything by himself, both in terms of time management and allocation. He also found a study method that was suitable for him in order to get good results. He also divided his time to do things that he was interested in by studying and gaining knowledge from examples and role models that he learned from his father about studying and gaining knowledge, which he had to study thoroughly. Dhanin also had the habit of being a giver from his mother, so he was chosen by his classmates to be the leader. Being a giver is not just about giving things or helping, but also includes knowing how to respect, give heart, support, and be a friend to everyone without discrimination.

This issue has given the admins perspectives on learning many things, such as:

    • First , if we want to learn something, learn it to the best of our ability, do it to the best of our ability, be dedicated, have deep knowledge of that subject, and never stop learning because there is always progress.
    • The second thing is to be a good leader. In addition to listening to the opinions of others, you must also know how to be a giver. Giving here includes giving respect, giving heart to others. And the last thing is time management, which is very similar to the admin who has to study and do activities that he is interested in, which is selling snacks. You have to divide and manage your time well so that you can do both things together and do both well.

The life path of Mr. Dhanin is not just this. Throughout every stage of his growth, Mr. Dhanin never stopped learning, inventing, and developing his own business, making it from a small business to a large business that expands around the world. There are many ideas that the admin agrees with if the business is to be successful.

Promote farmers’ chicken farming using the “Contract Farming” method.

Dhanin Chearavanont has adapted the principles of contract farming from the United States to Thailand in order to develop all aspects, whether it be the quality of chicken, the development of chicken farming as an industry, the reduction of risks that farmers have to bear, and most importantly, everyone can have a source of cheap protein to consume.

In the past, only people with good status or money could buy chicken to eat. The admin sees that Contract Farming, which Mr. Dhanin does, is a business that puts heart first, does business straightforwardly, sincerely, and is ready to help farmers by giving them knowledge, giving them a career and a stable income. It’s like teaching someone to fish, not just giving them fish.

Expand your business to great heights with the “3 Benefits Principle”

This is the concept of investing abroad. Mr. Dhanin emphasized that the country in which the investment is made must benefit, the people in that country must benefit, and the company must also benefit.

The book gives an example of the case where Mr. Dhanin invested in China by doing a project to raise 3 million chickens in Pinggu District, which was a collaboration between 4 parties: the government, banks, farmers, and CP. In this project, CP leased government land for 1,600 farmer families to use and made the farmers shareholders. They borrowed 70% from the bank, while CP and the government provided the remaining 30%, each half. This business was done to help the poor in China to have jobs, helping to ease the burden on the Chinese government by doing business that used the most modern technology, and also provided raw materials, chicks, and knowledge in raising chickens.

In addition, CP is the one who pays the rent on the land. After 10 years, the principal can be paid off. Everything will belong to the farmers. In this business, CP is the first company to invest after China has just opened its country. Others may think that China is not ready for investment.

But Mr. Dhanin sees that “We don’t wait for them to be ready, but we will create readiness.” So he started to open the Chinese market with the animal feed business that he is good at. In this regard, the admin has the opinion that Mr. Dhanin probably sees that if he benefits, we will benefit as well. But what Mr. Dhanin does more than doing business is creating international relations and is a principle for creating good people by teaching each step of the way.

Whatever you do must be “fast and quality”.

Since this era has changed, it is not the era of big fish eating small fish, but the era of fast fish eating slow fish. The admin thinks that if you want to do business in this era, you have to be fast to keep up with your competitors. Your products and products also have to be of high quality in order to beat your competitors in the market.

For example, the case of Mr. Dhanin Chearavanont, who was the initiator in seeing an opportunity to invest in the 7-Eleven business in Thailand.

“When looking at something, don’t look at it from one angle.”

When he was about to buy the 7-Eleven franchise to do business in Thailand, the copyright owner did not agree and refused to sell it because he was concerned that Thailand had a lower per capita income. But Thanin saw a different perspective by investing in sitting and counting the number of people walking past Patpong Road himself, and concluded that even though Thai people have a lower income, there are more people there.

“If in the US there is 1 person in the store, in Thailand there will be 10 people, thus the first 7-Eleven branch was born.” That is what Thanin saw. “Don’t look at things from one angle.” Until now, no matter where we go we see 7-Eleven convenience stores everywhere. Currently there are 10,988 branches in total, ranked 2nd in the world (2018 data). The admin sees this idea as a very smart idea in doing business by Mr. Dhanin, which is to look for opportunities rather than waiting for opportunities to come to us.

“The calf is not afraid of tigers.”

Mr. Dhanin sees the new generation who dare to start new businesses despite the high risks as calves who are not afraid of tigers. He has created the Tao Kae Noi course to bring the new generation to learn how to do business from CP by learning from real-world experiences.

In addition, CP also sees the ideas of the new generation. Everyone is learning from each other. The method of the talented people is to learn and be open to new methods, not sticking to the old ideas. The admin thinks that Mr. Dhanin wants to create people who have knowledge and experience in doing business.

    Conclusion

From reading this book, the admin feels that Mr. Dhanin has had the idea of becoming a businessman since he was a child. It may be due to Mr. Dhanin’s family background in business. It can be seen that when he was a child, Mr. Dhanin knew how to manage his time and used his free time to study and research what he liked. Unlike other children who had free time, they would rather run and play. For this reason, the author sees this as the reason why Mr. Dhanin was successful and became the number 1 billionaire in Thailand. And from Mr. Dhanin’s business methods, from the beginning, it can be seen that he focused on developing people first, creating people with knowledge, experience, ability, and giving their hearts to business partners first.

Success is only enjoyed for one day - today we succeed, but tomorrow we may fail.
Picture 2: Book: Success, You Can Be Happy for Only One Day

The book “Success, You Can Be Happy for Only One Day” has made the admin think about many things, both in terms of doing business and living life. For example, in terms of selling desserts, even though we have succeeded today, we can be proud of ourselves, but we must continue to develop the dessert recipe to be delicious and of high quality, and to develop and improve it constantly.

“What we think is the best may not be the best tomorrow.”

If we think that we are good, tomorrow there will be someone better than us because there is always someone better than us because everything in this world is constantly developing and no matter what we do, we must do it with quality and speed. We need to keep up with the world, keep up with every situation because every job has a goal and time determines it, including doing business or whatever we do, we must always be sincere with customers and business partners, do not take advantage of them and must use good quality products in business.

Finally, if you want to be successful, whether in business or life, have you tried doing anything?

And if you have taken action and succeeded, remember that “Today you succeed, tomorrow you may fail. Today you are good, tomorrow there will be someone better than us. Therefore, never stop learning and developing, because success can only be enjoyed for one day.”

Price and where can I buy it?
