How to win friends & influence people in the Digital Age or how to make friends and influence people in the digital age is a very important and challenging matter, especially in this era where we have to work with people of various generations.

As we see in this era, getting to know each other and building a stronger relationship can be done by typing on the keyboard and pressing the send button through online channels, whether through Direct Message Applications or through other Social Media Platforms. The question is, how do we know which stories are true and which stories are lies? Because in the online world, there are still many loopholes that both ourselves or the opposite party can play tricks from online interactions. For this reason, many people have been hurt by deception that we see every day from relationships that start and end online.

How to win friends & influence people in the Digital age This book is very contemporary because the original was written way back in 1939 and its content has changed the lives of millions of people. Many people have reached enlightenment in the secrets of friendship and business motivation. With this reprint, Dale Carnegie has updated the book to be more relevant to the present situation, opening up the world of interactions in the digital age, which should help everyone gain enlightenment and understanding about friendship and business motivation that are suitable for this era.

“Learning how to deal with people in the right way is like a good passport to relationships and business.”

In the working world, managing and negotiating with people is the biggest problem of creating interactions that we have to face. Communication is an art that we have to understand in a way that can be developed. So we have to learn about these things until we understand the core inside what secrets are hidden. And to keep up with the times, we probably won’t just learn face-to-face communication, but we have to learn the essence of communication to create interactions in the digital age as well.

“Be careful what you are and what you say.”

Social media is like a blessing that can create fame and money for many people in a short period of time. Some people can get everything they want without even trying. However, there are always two sides to every coin. On the other hand, social media can also be a curse, creating scars for us for life. Therefore, any activity in the online world like social media is something we must be very careful about if we don’t want what we have done to come back to hurt us later.

“Before you post anything on social media, think about what motivates you to do it.”

If we know that we are a person who speaks badly and loses our senses easily, we need to find a place to release ourselves, and social media is that place. If we have done this before or are thinking about doing it, please stop and calm down first. No matter what it is or what issue we are about to press post, whether it is something that makes us angry, dissatisfied, or that matter hurts our feelings and we need to let it go, or it is a good story that we want to share, before pressing the post button or sharing those things, please review and think carefully first. What is the motive that makes you want to share these stories on social media?

“The people we scold today may be the people we have to work with in the future.”

If President Lincoln were alive today, he would have done a great job in the digital age. He used to be an expert in human communication. He always told us to calm down before we speak. He knew the right time to speak and when to let the silence do its work. He was careful to give weight to every word. And he knew how to get the best out of the people he wanted. Whether it was liked or not, throwing mud at us with harsh words was not something that should be done. Because if he were to become our boss one day, the workplace would be a living hell for us.

    “Kindness always wins.”

Expressing kindness is one of the best ways to start a relationship and motivate others. It shows them that you are a caring person and are always aware of what is around you. Because in a relationship, no one wants to be left behind or alone. Expressing kindness will give them confidence to build a relationship with you. They will feel that you will not abandon them.

“When it comes to building a good relationship, you should look for the good, not focus on the bad.”

In the digital age where social media plays an important role in attracting people to the online world, it is not just ordinary people who step in, but also celebrities and many things floating in this online world. It depends on what we pick up to admire. The important thing in finding good interactions is not to look at just a few black dots on a white cloth, but to look into that cloth. Its value may be in the fabric, flexibility, size or use, which is valuable enough to cover up the black marks on that cloth.

“What do people need to create deeper interactions?”

Understanding people’s true desires is another great way to motivate them to behave in a way that will affect their behavior, especially in business. To successfully understand other people’s desires, we must always think from their perspective, as if we were them, what would we want? What benefits would they likely want? The key is to be smart in how you interact with them, because they will be able to tell if your actions are insincere.

“Listening is not just hearing what other people say, but listening deeply to what people are really trying to communicate.”

Of course, in terms of building friendships, we need to have good listening skills. Not everyone has good listening skills because some people just talk but turn a deaf ear to others. In terms of business, listening is like getting benefits without paying. Especially if it is talking from customers or groups of people that we want to reach, please listen to them a lot because that is free information that they give us.

“Share your attention with others, instead of focusing on yourself.”

When it comes to getting to know and interact with people, what we want to know is their story, information about them. But many of us miss the point because we tend to get so caught up in talking about ourselves, telling people who we are, what we like, what we’ve done, and then we find ourselves going home empty-handed because we haven’t learned anything about the person.

“No one wants to admit that they are wrong.”

Whether it’s a friendship or a business relationship, there will always be some kind of argument. And one thing no one wants to do is admit their mistake. But did you know that saying, “It was my fault” can have incredibly positive results? It builds credibility, and we look more professional when admitting our mistake ends the argument.

“Drop your weapons and approach peacefully.”

Friendship should start from the basics by exposing yourself to get to know someone. You should bring positive energy, create a positive approach first. From the survey results, it was found that most people who approach others with brightness and friendliness usually get the same thing back. But there is another group of people who only receive indifference. If such an event happens to us, being indifferent is not strange. The reason why people are indifferent to us is because we are indifferent to them as well. It is like what characters in movies or dramas often say, “If someone is good, we will be good back. If someone is bad, we will be bad back.”

“There are two processes in how relationships work: give and take, and take and give.”

We have to be open and allow ourselves to be the initiator, to give first, to speak first, or to do something first. In business, we may be the one to offer first, or to be the one to take a disadvantage first. When we give the next time, when we are the recipient, the other party may respond in the same way. But everything must be done intelligently, observe carefully, and learn a lot, because the word friendship can hurt people very painfully as well. But carrying a positive mindset is not a bad thing at all.

    Conclusion

In this day and age, many of us are at a point where we worry too much about the things and things in life that have happened over the years. Making friends, starting friendships, building interactions, maintaining relationships and strengthening them, motivating people in business, at work or even in family, these are all interconnected in the digital world and the real world.

It is always possible to take a relationship with someone to the next level honestly and openly that we want, but everything must be done with care and intelligence, whether online or in real life, because there is no guarantee that he will feel the same way.

So, when it comes to building relationships and motivating people, we need to be honest, be ourselves, be able to admit our own mistakes, try to see the other person’s perspective, and be more considerate of others. Only then can we become the person that people want.

“Be very careful in the digital age because in just a second when you press the “send” button, your business, your relationships, your friendships, your networks, everything can disappear before your very eyes.”
