Personality type or personality type is a grouping of personality types of people by referring to the behavioral tendencies of the personality of each group of people in each type, what is it like?

How does earning potential relate to personality type?

If we talk about the income level that each of us can make, what do you think are the factors that can make it high or low? It could be education, ability, work experience, or opportunities received, something like that, right? But there is one more thing that seems unrelated at all, but in fact is very close to us, which is Personality type. Did you know that in fact, personality is another factor that clearly affects our income level?

“People who are open, rational, thoughtful, and have a structured lifestyle are the types of people who can generate high income.”

A study conducted with more than 72,000 participants found a link between salary levels and personality traits. This means that the personality traits that each person has or displays affect the level of income that each person receives. It also found that people with high incomes tend to be open-minded, rational, make decisions, and live systematically.

If after our presentation, someone argues about the work we just presented, what should we do?

The answer to this question does not only measure our personality, but also shows the level of income we can make. From this situation, what we will do next can be divided into 2 main options as follows:

    1. Argue in a friendly manner, explain and discuss our ideas more clearly in a calm manner.
    2. Avoid conflict by accepting and adjusting the topic as others suggest.

Can you imagine what kind of people would be paid more? Letting ourselves be swayed by other people’s ideas will prevent us from having work that can truly be considered our own? However, the argument should be done calmly and friendly, without involving personal emotions and feelings.

    16 Myers-Briggs Personalities

The Myers-Briggs 16 personality tests have become the cornerstone of the analysis of personality-income relationships. It is easy to understand how similar, similar or different people are in the world. The outline of a personality theory can be easily explained by comparing two opposite personality traits:

    • Extraversion (E) vs. Introversion (I) : Extroverts can energize others. At work, they are willing and ready to help, talk, or socialize with people around them without feeling awkward and friendly. This will create good relationships with others, whether at work or in their residential area. Meanwhile, introverts have constant energy from working alone. Their work will turn out well only when they spend time working alone. However, when they have to work with others, they feel awkward, making it difficult to work as a team or socialize.
    • Sensing (S) and Intuition (N) people : Sensing people perceive information with all 5 senses, live in the present, see everything as it is, and can create concrete and factual information, while Intuition people perceive information with intuition, hunches, and insight. In their work, they are highly imaginative and inspired, like to do things from broad concepts, and are flexible in interpreting information.
    • People who use Thinking (T) and People who use Feeling (F) : Thinkers tend to make decisions with reason, have logic, analytical thinking, principles, follow what the brain tells them to do, create decisions that are rational and based on reality. Meanwhile, decisions that are based on feelings are decisions based on feelings, values, and the social situation at that time, doing what they want, and taking into account the feelings and needs of others.
    • Judging (J) vs. Perceiving (P) types : People with a Judging personality type and will follow a plan to pursue their goals. They will be uncomfortable if they do not have a plan for doing something. On the other hand, people with a Judging personality type tend to live life slowly, are ready to adapt to every situation, and always keep options open. They do not like to make decisions unless they need to because they can wait to get more information. They do not like rules or anything that is strict.

So when we call our personality type, it will consist of 4 letters. Look at these opposite personalities, for example, if you are an open person, reasonable, think in making decisions and do things systematically, you can tell that you have the ESTJ personality type.

We can test to find our Personality type here: https://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test

“Why are ESTJs the highest-earning personality type?”

Most professions and companies want people with these 4 personalities in their teams because extroverts are good at socializing. They can connect with everyone in the team and dare to argue for their own ideas. Being rational leads to more facts than relying on instincts that require waiting to see if they are right or wrong. In terms of investing, you can’t just put a lot of money on someone’s instincts. Using your mind to make decisions is something you should do anyway. If we were in an organization that still wanted to make a profit, it would be difficult for us to make decisions out of pity or sympathy for someone. Finally, doing everything according to the plan is one of the steps that should be done in a company rather than just waiting around without any work patterns.

“INFP is the lowest-earning personality type.”

INFTs are introverted, intuitive, emotional, and unstructured personality types. Out of 72,000 participants in a study, INFTs had a median income of $34,000, while ESTJs had a median income of $60,000, which is almost double the difference. The study found that INFTs tend to be optimistic, avoid conflict, and are very creative. However, the downside is that they are too kind and optimistic, which can lead to being taken advantage of. They are also difficult to understand, and their introversion makes them unable to explain themselves to others, making it difficult to work with INFPs.

“ESTJs are not suitable for every job.”

If anyone feels that they do not have an ESTJ personality, don’t be discouraged. Although ESTJs are the type that can earn the highest income, not every job is suitable for this personality. There are many jobs that do not require an extrovert, such as writers, programmers, artists, etc. These careers are working alone, spending time with themselves to produce their own work. Or being a rational person makes it difficult to create imagination in art, music, or design. Because we have imagination, we can create new things that are beyond reality.

Put the right man on the right job

Have you noticed that both ESTJ and INFP have jobs that suit their personality? Not all INFPs have low incomes, because some INFPs who find jobs that suit them earn higher incomes than ESTJs. The important thing is, are we in the right place? Have we chosen a job that suits us? To shine or be successful, we need to choose the right place and job for our personality.

“Ultimately, personality may just be a mask we wear to achieve success.”

Many people create an identity or show that they have a certain personality in order to walk the path that they have chosen smoothly and be successful. We can never know whether the people around us are like this, do this, have this personality, whether it is who they really are or an act. Therefore, in walking the path to success, we have to adjust, change or adapt to fit into society in order to create good relationships and opportunities in the path that we have chosen.

Therefore, personality is not the only thing that determines the level of income.

While personality plays a role in creating a path to success, there are many other factors that affect the level of income, such as education level, work experience, career type, industry type, specific career that cannot be replaced by other careers, etc. It has also been found that everyone can still succeed in generating high incomes by having these 2 things.

    1. Set challenging goals and be ambitious to achieve them.
    2. Dare to confront conflict to ensure our voices are heard.

    Conclusion

Although personality and income are related, no matter what kind of personality you have, don’t belittle yourself just because you were born with that kind of personality. Let’s consider whether we have chosen the right job for us or not. If we think that the job is right for us, try to adjust ourselves and change our working methods a little bit to make the job better suit us and bring us closer to success. But if we think that the job we are doing is not right for us, or that the job we are doing is making us stay in the same place and not happy at all, we should try to open our minds to find a job that matches our personality, a job where we don’t have to feel tired of pretending to be someone else in order to achieve success in a way that we may not even want to be. Let’s open our minds to find a job that will allow us to be ourselves, have people understand us, and be able to fully demonstrate our potential in our work.

“It’s not enough to be the right person. You have to be the right person in the right place.”
